The Waiting Man

I went back to the Hippo House early Thursday morning & got some additional measurements, which turned out to be pretty important - it certainly helped with the room at the 'head' end...

Estimating took about 45 minutes... & I was pretty generous with my quantities. Even so, I think I'll get the company to sign a waiver stating that if they come up short, I won't be held financially responsible!!

On my travels around town for work, I see some interesting things... I was up in one of the more Northern Beaches & spotted a house that looked straight off the cover of a 70s prog-rock album cover. I know that Roger Dean - he of the early 70s Yes album covers... & others - had also dabbled in house design & this looked like somebody had got hold of the plans. A little Googling this morning reveals the one in Bilgola is known as the Hollander House, after its architect, but I'm not sure who inspired who... given Hollander built his in 1971 & I'm pretty sure Roger Dean's Earth House cam a little later, though his 'pod' design for a bedroom dates from the late 60s & was seen in the film 'A Clockwork Orange'. So who ripped off... plagiarised... stole from was inspired by who?
