Gettin' Kulcha'd
Jun. 26th, 2008 09:49 amI was taken to the Opera House Studio last night to see "... something called 'Between the Devil & the Deep Blue Sea'..." which turned out to be a production by a British theatre/cabaret/something else troupe called 1927
Rather an unfortunate moniker for those of us with long enough memories of Australian pop music, but be assured no power ballads were sung. What it was ~ a collage/collision of B&W animation, macabre stories, white-face minimalist actors, rather threatening audience participation, all set to Satie-influenced piano accompaniment.
Loved it!!! Never has sitting in the front row (at a table ~ very Kabaret!!) been so... initimidating... The show's hopefully coming soon to a town near you... otherwise, you have until Saturday night to see it here.
Now, back totaking stock stock-taking...
