I was taken to the Opera House Studio last night to see "... something called 'Between the Devil & the Deep Blue Sea'..." which turned out to be a production by a British theatre/cabaret/something else troupe called 1927

Rather an unfortunate moniker for those of us with long enough memories of Australian pop music, but be assured no power ballads were sung. What it was ~ a collage/collision of B&W animation, macabre stories, white-face minimalist actors, rather threatening audience participation, all set to Satie-influenced piano accompaniment.

Loved it!!! Never has sitting in the front row (at a table ~ very Kabaret!!) been so... initimidating... The show's hopefully coming soon to a town near you... otherwise, you have until Saturday night to see it here.

Now, back to taking stock stock-taking...

On a different note ~ WHEN WILL SOMEBODY ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING ABOUT SYDNEY'S ROADS INSTEAD OF JUST TALKING ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!

So, the solution is to get an 'independent' review which can be "signed in triplicate, sent in, sent back, queried, lost, found, subjected to public enquiry, lost again, and finally buried in soft peat for three months and recycled as firelighters." (Thanks again D.A.)

Jesus... petrol at $1.70 per litre, public transport inefficient, overpriced & in the case of my locale, non-existent after 8pm, the ailing Spit Bridge, Military Rd peak-hour for about 21 of 24 hours, the M5 tunnel that spends most of its night-time closed, a cross-city tunnel that no-one wanted & caused what I consider illegal road-closures (since when can a private company force the closure of public roads?!)... the aspects of living in a small country town where everything's within walking distance have never been so appealing...

How did this lame-duck State Gov't get re-elected? I certainly didn't vote for (D)I(l)emma... the man has that G.W.Bush rabbit-in-the-headlights vacant stare most of the time, indicating either a man out of his depth, or someone with no higher-brain functions & minimum brainstem activity. Either way ~ not the leader anyone would want...
