waitingman: (fender neck)
Does remembering all about his blight on the late eighties Australian music scene date me really badly?? http://www.radar.smh.com.au/archives/2005/05/the_star_who_ne.html

I was working in a large music store on Sydney's northern beaches at the time & I remember getting a consignment of this guy's 7" single delivered to us - unasked for - on a sale or return basis. I don't remember selling any of them... in fact, I don't remember anyone collecting the singles afterwards either...

I also remember the 'Fairlie Arrow' fake kidnapping publicity stunt... trivia fans... Didn't help her sales either... nor the much publicised gig at Selina's a few years later... billed as her "triumphant return"... From where exactly?? Obscurity knocks...

I had the first of 2 farewell drinks nights this evening, with my ex-senior colleague who moved on to greener pastures about a month ago. We compared our future & current working situations with what we have both endured & it's amazing how we both think that, what turns out to be standard industry practice, is a luxury for us...

I plan to go to work by a couple of ferries tomorrow.. the first to Circular Quay, then a RiverCat to somewhere near Gladesville. Primarily because I have no intention of leaving the 2nd of my farewell drinks nights sober enough to drive, but also because the idea of travelling to work by water really appeals.

48 busy hours ahead. Last day of work & drinks tomorrow... Mother's birthday brreakfast at 9am Saturday (!!!, then a song-searching session with my country singer in the afternoon, then to the Entertainment Centre for the finals of the 'Battle of the Corporate Bands' competition - at which tobias (the Joshua drummer) is playing... for his company & career, no doubt...

Sunday, too far away...
