Home... home again... I like to be here when I can...

First night in for a while, kind of nice to chill out with an Indiana Jones movie after a busy afternoon. The Joshua band convened at my place about 2pm, bummed around for about 3/4s of an hour, then it was decided to head to Manly for pizza & wine before practice for tomorrow's acoustic gig - for which we had no arrangements... 'til I wrote 'em.

Manly... bad idea, I said (at the best of times!), especially during the jazz festival this weekend. There'll be no parking & the place will be packed with people who wouldn't know good jazz if it bit their leg off. Not that that's a likely occurrence at the Manly Jazz Festival. The last time they had good jazz there was sometime in the 80s. Doesn't stop the crowds turning up every year - rain, hail, or shine... mostly the first 2. Spring weather hasn't been kind to the festival since... the 80s.

Sure enough... no parking, crowds of people, bad jazz... What was unexpected was that all the pizza places were shut... on a Saturday afternoon... on a long weekend... during the biggest festival this seaside backwater can manage... Eventually we went to a neighbouring suburb where I found a licensed place that gave good pizza, coffee & wine. Fed & watered - all back to mine about 5ish for 3 hours of acoustic therapy. 5 songs, no electronic backing, no drums except Tobias's bongoes, no instruments other than an acoustic guitar. What kind of electronic band are we anyway??

An adaptable one. Now armed with new, natural style arrangements, organic (read - imprecise) rhythms & a wing & a prayer.

Chucked 'em out about 8.30, had a long phone conversation with Liz, watched the Last Crusade & now bed &/or Terry Pratchett beckons. Tomorrow - the world... or at least your half...
