I like this kind of Monday... NSW Labour Day - which we celebrate by not working. How Australian is that??!!

I think I've had a good weekend... there are holes in my recollection of parts of it - which is always a good sign. Saturday... what did I do on Saturday?? Possibly because Sunday & Monday have been so busy, I have a 24 hour blank spot in my life. I'm sure it will come to me... when the bank statement arrives perhaps... Ahh yes... I rose late, thanks to the Tim Freedman gig & had that pizza, coffee & wine fuelled rehearsal for Sunday.

Sunday: A movie with an old schoolfriend. For 26 years now, we've always gone to see movies we think will be tacky, B-grade, or just plain silly - as long as we think it could be fun. Don't knock the approach... it meant we were 2 of the very few people to see the Blues Brothers in it's first cinema release - before everyone discovered it a few years later & it achieved cult status - we only went 'cause we heard Carrie Fisher was in it. Hey... we were a couple of teenage boys who'd seen Star Wars possibly 5 too many times, what do you expect?? I'm not sure how time & cinematic history will treat our Sunday choice 'Alien Vs Predator', but I can tell you it was a lot more fun than the Thunderbirds movie the other week. Jonathan Frakes couldn't direct traffic in a 1 way street.

Then, an audition for a production company in Kings Cross - conveniently located directly opposite the Iguana bar - a just about 24 hour hangout for the cooler Sydney & international famous & fame seekers. 2/3s of Daylan had our 5 track EP constructively deconstructed & criticised for one & a half hours. It could have been quicker, but, like most marketing people, this guy loved to talk. He especially liked to say the same thing 6 different ways. It may prove to be helpful though... we shall see.

Then the Sunday Sacraments event at the Hollywood Hotel. 2 of my bands were playing, + I was in the house band, backing the hostess on songs ranging from Godspell gospel to the Doors. Got home at 4.30 am with sore fingers & a nice fuzzy feeling due to prolonged sleep deprivation.

Today was nice... up far too early, due to sunny day vibes coming through my inadequately curtained windows... a phone call from Liz & off we went to Stanwell Park down near Wollongong to visit her uncle. Nice guy, nice place, nice drive there & back again. Home at last, a takeaway Indian meal & a viewing of 'Once Upon A Time In Mexico' on DVD. Fun, fun, fun...

Bed, sleep, dream.
