A busy day, yesterday - one where, even though I got up maybe slightly earlier than I would on a work day, it was still a rush to fit everything in. L-SP was on day shift, so picking up breakfast for her was on the agenda, as was going to the post office to collect a parcel they'd left a card in the mailbox for. I wanted a haircut - just a trim really, so had that slotted in for first thing 9am, then a supermarket dash for a couple of things, then the breakfast

Post Office - check. Bakery next door for rolls - check (though it turned out the 9yr old behind the counter only gave me 3 rolls instead of 4... We won't starve, but you have ONE JOB!!). To the shopping centre & the barber was busy, with the queue spilling out the door. forget that for now, into the supermarket - check. Barber still too busy, so breakfast for us - check. Home.

Breakfast eaten, time for the stuff further afield. I had a 16x20 photo print to pick up & thought I'd try to get some others printed while I was there. L-SP dropped a subtle hint about a DVD she'd like from the music store & I wanted to visit the book, CD & DVD sale run by Lifeline every few months at a local school

Parking at the mega-mall - check.. eventually. To the photo print shop, where I was told to collect my print from a different counter, which had 6 people queuing at it. So, over to the computers to upload some other photos - the only 2 working ones were occupied by an old bloke & a woman who seemed to be uploading & then slowly going through their family albums from the last 40 years. Over to the music store & DVD for L-SP - check. Nothing else I wanted from there, so back to the photo store. No one at the collection counter, so picked up my print, then back to the computers, where the same old bloke & woman were still firmly planted... no more photos today then

Off to the Lifeline sale, where I perused the CD section & came away with some Lyle Lovett albums, a Keith Urban I didn't have, the only Everything But The Girl album I've ever liked, plus albums from the Neville Brothers, Bill Withers, Imogen Heap & the late, lamented, mighty Kirsty MacColl. I also found 2 books for L-SP

Back home & load up Laura with some guitar gear for an afternoon with my student, who also wanted help re-stringing his Rickenbacker. How hard could it be? I've been re-stringing my own guitars, bass, mandolins for years... so it should be easy right??

Short story - it wasn't. It took the 2 of us an hour to get it done, at the end of which I think I figured out a quicker way... as is the rule when attempting something for the 1st time with no instructions. Thereafter, a quite productive & fun jam session/lesson where I could see how much progress he's made during this crazy year & showed him a few techniques for a few songs he wanted to learn. All of a sudden it's 6.30pm & L-SP finishes work in 30 minutes & will want dinner!!

Back to my neck of the woods to the local Thai place, then home to feed Bella, then L-SP & myself...

Today - back to work for a rest!!

Dear Diary...

What a dull day it was... 8 hours of nothing at work, 90 minutes commuting, a quiet evening in & now bed

The End
