Close To The Edge

The edge of what... is the question.
Some noises were made by Gormless Leader at my current job last week, about finalising whether I'm finishing with them this Friday or not. The "couple of days" I was to wait to get an answer expired last Thursday & today, I'm still no wiser (about a great number of things, but that's not important right now...). So, in the absence of definition, I'm treating Friday as my last day & acting accordingly - leaving work early, postponing a sales meeting & plotting a quiet getaway for Friday afternoon.
Even with no concrete prospects lined up, it will still be a relief. As for those prospects - both Sydney ones are up in the air at the moment & I have no inkling about how they'll land. So, I wait by the telephone... & the mobile... & the e-mail... I have my dreams, a couple of ambitions & a contingency plan kindasorta formulated & financed by a healthy tax return.
Melbourne Elizabeth has been staying here since Saturday. We took in a gig by one of her old bands - Blindman's Holiday on Saturday night. The verdict: A reasonable a capella & percussive tour around the world in 80 bars, but a long way short of their best work. Hopefully Rey'n'Art'n'Norvegicus enjoyed it... it was a cold & rainy night to be far from their home.
Melbourne Elizabeth flies home on Wednesday morning & the current best-laid plan of this particular mouse, is to be driving down there for the last weekend in August. She's been enjoying Sydney's cold & rain, as it's still apparently warmer than Melbourne is right now. Hmm... note to self: Take extra jumpers, jackets & woolly socks.
And so, for the foreseeable rest of the week ~ waiting...waiting...
