Take This Job And...

The end of the financial year tends to make a lot of businesses panic...
Had a lunchtime 'coffee' with my GM today & he, finally, gave me the news I've been expecting for months. Looks like I have a month left in my current job. He quoted a lot of six-figured numbers at me, seeming almost proud, in a perverse way, of how much money his company has lost over the year. I wasn't sure if he wanted me to be impressed, depressed, stressed... whatever. Actually, what I felt most was a kind of release.
I'd had a sort of advance warning of it yesterday though, just by observing the general mood of the office & keeping my ears open, so last night I hit the employment sites & fired off 8 applications for jobs in Melbourne - which I'd been planning to do 'round about now anyway, as the first step in relocation. The Great Purge of Stuff has been continuing quietly at WaitingManor & there are now fewer ties that bind.
Interviews start Monday, so we shall see. At least I have (hopefully!!) a month's grace this time. Seems like only a year ago, I was doing much the same thing... in fact - it was only a year ago!! Ah, the uncertain life of the itinerant sales representative...
"...they call me the Wanderer. I roam around around around around around..."
In other news - went Waffling tonight as an audient only, met up with Rey'n'Art & had a roast beast dinner that was almost as good as the ones Rey does for her 'guilt meals'. She & I realised tonight that our friendship is now old enough to vote. Happy Birthday Rey!!
Oh... & Daylan Music has been commissioned to provide soundtracks for 2 more short films. Although 'commissioned' is rather a grand term for something we'll be doing for free... at this stage of the new career, we're just trying to get our name out there.
