The best thing about today was not going to work & having a doctor's certificate for it...

Apart from getting a referral to an opthalmologist regarding the blocked ducts in the whites of my eyes & being told that I need orthotics in my shoes - both of which are not too bad in the scheme of things... although not cheap either... the worst thing is my hands. Current diagnosis is either carpal tunnel syndrome or some kind of tendonitis - in both of them. 2nd opinion to come after 4-5 days of anti-inflammatories.

Going blind & walking with a limp I can handle, but I need my hands!! Can't really play guitar without them... for which a grateful populace will doubtless flock to places of worship to give thanks to their relevant gods. Philistines! Bastards!!

Visited the father figure in hospital today - he showed me his new bandaged scars & seemed quite proud of the amount of tubes attached to him, but then, he was pretty out of it & in more need of sleep than company, so I left him to it. I'll check in tomorrow...

If Science Fiction were real, I'd want to be a Cyberman, or a Borg... or a Dalek. No pesky conscience & less flawed & deteriorating biological bits.

Dr Ozbun is IN

Hmm... blocked ducts, yes... limping... hmm... might need orthotics.

Possible bilateral CTS. That's unusual. Must be a guitarist. *muse*

I'd prescribe a one week holiday at the destination of your choice, however you are likely to recover quicker if you find a charming hobby farm nestled in the hills around Adelaide to recuperate at. You'd be mothered to death.

Oh wait. That's right. We don't like death. Hmm... Ah well. Go on holiday anyway.

Seriously, sounds like things are more than marginally not-nice at the moment. Thinking of you. Bilat CTS is fairly common, but in the event you need a release it should be fairly straight forward with a recovery time of around 4-6 weeks. I'll come and pick you up from the hospital and ferry you back to the farm. :)

Death by mothering would be a lovely way to go... provided it's not my mother... as hinted at over Christmas/NYE there are unresolved 'issues' between my parents & I at present.

Bilateral carpal tunnel isn't that uncommon, particularly in those who use keyboards (of either sort!), but remember that it can be treated, often without resorting to surgery if it's caught early enough. I've still got to be careful about not overdoing it at the computer, and still wear my wrist braces when I'm typing, but I can play the piano unhindered; there are also CTS treatment programs out there tailored specifically to musicians. So there's hope yet.

Glad you're getting things sorted, and hope you and your father both feel better soon!

This last week has certainly been one of those times where everything seems to happen at once, following the quiet new year period. Hopefully it'll be over soon, but if not, then with all this remedial work required, I'll be in better shape to handle the continuing maelstrom.
