Grooming On An International Scale

The story so far... China has been rattling its sabres & claiming increasing amounts of Asia as its own, both by stealth & a kind of 'Well, it's ours now, what are you going to do about it?!" schoolyard bully posturing, angering not only its direct neighbours, but the established 'powers' like the USA &, to a much lesser power, Australia

Now - a former US diplomat (why is it always a 'former' diplomat... or politician, or general?? Surely it's safer, at a personal level at least, to say this sort of thing out loud when you have an army behind you - even if it is just a bunch of angry civil servants) has claimed that Australia is being set up as the Ukraine of South-East Asia, in that China will be allowed to invade us, in order for the USA to wage its own war against China by proxy, just as it's fighting Russia by supplying Ukraine with weapons & technology, but no actual troops

As far-fetched as that sounds, I suppose it's not beyond the limits of belief. The British were quite prepared to let Australia be invaded by the Japanese in WWII, having evacuated Singapore with barely a shot fired, thinking that invading a large landmass like ours would spread the Japanese too thin & weaken their overall strength... It's kind of like invading Russia - the place is too damned big to have any kind of meaningful & useful control over & large portions of the landscape are inhospitable, or downright uninhabitable. Ask the French & Germans... about Russia I mean, not Australia... yet. So it's a tried & true tactic to let your enemy advance past its realistic limits, much as Russia has found out in the battle with its own inadequate capacity to supply its troops in Ukraine

The only problem I see with this scenario is that our elected leader doesn't have a little fingernail's amount of the kind of charisma & inspirational qualities displayed constantly by Zelenskyy... We're doomed!

First of all, Zelenskyy just overrated and of course he is excellent actor, but everything else just not make sense to me, because if Ukraine will win and he’ll be alive then I’ll deeply apologize. Otherwise, in best case scenario, he will became another Ukrainian hero who was killed by Russia, which are so many in Ukrainian history.

Regarding Australia, during of any war, elected leaders could be replaced by a former general, for example, who can lead Australia to victory, because Australia will be not alone and all civilized world will support and will fight together with Australia and I don’t talking here about Japan and South Korea indeed…

Regarding China invasion, first of all China should resolve Taiwan issue and I don’t believe US and Japan, together with South Korea and Australia will stay quit during China’s try to get Taiwan. In this case China civil war could be another possibility…

I agreed that Australia doomed in case of World War 3, but how about other countries? Everyone will be doomed, special in case of nuclear Holocaust.

Zelenskyy may indeed be over-rated, but his refusal to flee the country & his highly visible displays of empathy with his citizens & soldiers are exactly what his beleaguered nation needs to see from its leader. I particularly like that he dresses in ordinary khaki clothing, but there isn't an insignia of rank, or a medal to be seen anywhere on him. Certainly there's a very clever marketing strategy at work, but the attempts on his life are very real

The ex-diplomat's point about Australia being hung out to dry if China goes on the front foot is kind of supported by the US & NATO's refusal to put their boots on the ground in Ukraine - hence the 'war by proxy' - sending arms & supplies but not troops. If Australia is invaded by a major power like China, it may well be that the rest of the world hedges its bets & offers us all support, but no numbers, just in case the conflict becomes calamitously global

For there to be a Civil War in China, there needs to be a credible opposing force... & I haven't seen one yet... unless they're hiding underground & are as hard to find as Zelenskyy has been

You’re completely right about a very clever marketing strategy of Zelenskyy and I wish him victory, but I don’t see he has power and ability to win this war, unfortunately…

I don’t believe US & NATO will do with Australia the same way what they did in Ukraine. There are a big differences between Australia and Ukraine…
