Yes, and now I understand a little better why my grandfather -- born in 1902 -- would listen to such old-timey music (though his inability to appreciate even The Beatles is still a mystery to me). Because although my musical tastes are not stuck in the 1970s, that music is familiar and comforting, in its own way.
It's funny, I think of the Beatles as being 'old' music because it was mostly from before I was born (1967), but anything from about 1975 onwards doesn't seem old to me
I think it has something to do with when you first really become aware of your contemporary music & there's a definite cut-off date between 'old-timey' & new for everyone. As posited in the song '1985' by Bowling For Soup"When did Mötley Crüe become Classic Rock?!?"
