Why else would I feel only a slight twinge of remorse, not regret, in turning down a sales role that would see me working close to home for a national company, for an okay weekly salary plus commission, after an interview last week where, apparently, the feedback from the interviewer to the recruiter about me was positively glowing??
Okay, maybe a little regret now... but mostly it's regret that I should have just told the recruiter I wasn't interested when she first contacted me, instead of going through the phone & physical interview process, only to decide at the end that the last thing I want right now is another showroom sales role, given that's what I've been doing for the best part of the last 20 years... & there would be the very real possibility that I'd turn up to work one day, climb onto the roof & start hurling abuse & ceramic tiles at everyone below, naked from the waist down, screaming & crying until the nice police & ambulance officers come to take me away...
No - having invoiced my 2 clients tonight for the last week's work, I think I'm quite happy with what I'm doing now, thanks

And the recruiter did try to reel me in at the end, with the pipe dream that I could always go for a more senior role, or product rep position "after a year or 2, when you have the experience"... I've been a sales/store manager before & don't need any more experience of budget spreadsheets, daily/monthly reports & conflict resolution with both clients & staff...
