The Pain... Oh The Pain
May. 21st, 2021 09:18 pmBack to my new doctor today, to report the failure of the antibiotics she prescribed a fortnight ago to shift the persistent 'ckoff that has been abusing my tonsils & clearing people from my general vicinity for about a month now... I suspect it has become a sinus infection, but new Doc wants to try a stronger antibiotic for a week to see if it can clear things up
While I was there, I brought up the subject of my 'wandering inflammation' that I've had for nearly 25 years, since a car accident in about 1997 slammed my right knee into the steering column of the car. Not only does that knee occasionally flare up & require a couple of anti-inflammatory tablets, but so do other joints like ankles, elbows & wrists & even occasionally, fingertips & toes... which is ridiculous!! Anyway, her diagnosis is apparently 'classic osteo-arthritis' - for which the only treatment is anti-inflammatory tablets & movement... I kind of indicated that I'd come up with that course of treatment myself over 20 years ago. I have an appointment next week to further investigate...
I know some people find some sort of relief in having a mystery diagnosed, but maybe it's the word 'arthritis' that I find so distressing - isn't that something that only old people get?!?! I'm not ready for that... I still have so much music to make & it's one of my nightmares that I can't do that any more
