Posting from my phone, as I think I've killed my keyboard... I spilled red wine on it after knocking the glass over while turning a plan around to try & figure out all the angles... What's with all the modern houses with angles somewhere between 26 - 45 degrees?!? It was hard enough sketching this place on site today, let alone trying to scale it & work out what the doorway angles are...

The round place I measured a couple of days ago was a picnic by comparison...

Anyway, hopefully the keyboard will dry out overnight, otherwise it's time for a new one

I have enough trouble getting measurements with right angles!

We created a small art installation (Ha! makes it sound fancy!) on our stairway wall, and lined up parts of it with the angle of the railing. I made a cardboard template, put the first nail through it to fix it to the wall, then tilted it until it eyeball-checked as matching the angle of the railing. Success and no protractor required!

It does make me a tiny bit crazy that my office is one inch out of square on one wall. It's only noticeable with a tape measure, but I know it's there!

I'm all for modern architecture & innovation... as long as I don't have to measure the inside for flooring! This place looked like a regular, rectangular house from the outside, but all the upstairs bedrooms went off the hallway at varying angles, then 2 of those rooms were joined together in a kind of haphazard double-diamond... I can only hope I've put sufficient information on my plan to ensure enough carpet turns up on the day - as the Measurer, I'm financially responsible if the measurements are wrong... & the client has picked an expensive carpet!!

That reminds me. I have an exhibition piece (a framed photo of mine!) to hang on the wall today...
