Don't blame me for living on the wrong side of the International Date Line!!

1) Where in the entire world would you love to be vacationing right now?
Monument Valley... We've been there twice & there's just something about the place

2) Where in your own home country or state would you love to be vacationing right now?
Tasmania, our southernmost State. Maybe not right now, but mid-Autumn in a month or so, or a couple of weeks into Spring, around late September-ish

3) Where would you love to vacation later on this year when the weather is different?
As above - Monument Valley... I'd love to see it in Winter

4) Where are you likely to vacation this year?
We're aiming for Tasmania in September, but that will depend on vaccinations & no further outbreaks of Covid in Sydney (40 days since the last community transmission & counting!!)

5) And next year?
We'd planned a trip to Japan for 2020 & an Alaskan glacier cruise for this year. Either of those next year would be great, thanks!

Friday Five insider information: When it's my turn to post the Friday Five (second Friday of each month) I try to post midday on Thursday my time (Eastern USA) so that your side of the world can have a crack at it on your actual Friday. But when it's someone else's turn and they fail to post, we other mods have been asked to wait until a certain time of day on Friday to allow the mod whose turn it is to actually post before we jump in and post questions when it isn't really our turn.

I would love to see all the places you posted about and I wonder if I ever will. I have been on an Alaskan cruise and it was very cool.

It's not a problem... & it's possible I didn't see it 'til a few hours after the list was posted, so maybe my fault anyway. But, never miss an opportunity to point out how far away Australia is from the rest of you!!

The USA 'desert states' (Utah, Arizona, New Mexico etc...) have some of the most beautiful natural wonders I've ever seen... & that's coming from someone who lives in a country with a giant rock in the middle of it. You should absolutely hire a SUV & drive to them... though it's a bit difficult to drive to Tasmania

I hope we can get to Alaska some time soon... a little jealous of your cruise right now!!

I have been to all three of those western states, seen more of New Mexico than the others, but there are plenty of places in Utah and Arizona that I have not seen and want to see. I am unlikely ever to intentionally rent an SUV (they would drum me out of the Green Party, as I like to say) but it would be fun to drive around both the western states and your country. My husband saw your big rock on a three week visit before he and I met, and we talked about going back together, but that's not likely to happen now. Tasmania looks very cool, too. It might be fun to take the ferry.

1. That's a tough one... Ultimate fantasy vacation would probably be a LOTR-themed tour of New Zealand, but I would also love to explore all of Japan.

2. Yosemite National Park, although your point about Monument Valley is absolutely valid and worth noting.

3. Yellowstone National Park. In the summer it's beautiful, but in the winter apparently it's so radically different.

4. Unknown; I have a potential work trip in October so, if that goes through, I might time a vacation in that area.

5. Had planned a trip to Germany which got canceled last year due to pandemic. I would like to revisit those plans.

I'd love to see Yosemite in the snow... & Yellowstone & the Grand Tetons too... In fact, we'd just like to do an American road trip in the Winter... or maybe early spring when the roads re-open in some places!
