The end of the first week. After this, all time references become tedious, so it's now just 'work'.

So, a week of not doing too much. I've spoken to 3 clients & spent the rest of my time playing with & swearing at the laptop I've been provided with in lieu of a desktop PC. First thing to be remedied was the touchpad mouse - I hate 'em, so a USB mouse was unearthed. The usual quote form, e-mail, letterhead setting up & updating their pricelists & PDF brochures from various supplier company websites. That & a lot of surreptitious reading of the SMH online & doing the daily Target puzzle on a handy notepad.

It's too early to say what the other ranch hands are like. They seem nice enough, but one or two of them are just a bit too plastic for my taste.I don't really have a handle on the ranch manager yet either. I can see the nice guy facade, but don't know what's underneath & haven't seen or heard enough to judge the business acumen.

It does seem to be awfully quiet in the office though... Too quiet - not much in the way of sales calls or quoting, tendering & all the usual frenetic activity I was used to in my last job in this industry. Time will tell if this is just a lull prior to the company's imminent move to Artarmon, whereupon everything will roar back to life, or if this is as good as it gets. Which would be a worry.

Ah well, give it 'til January & see what happens. There's not much alternative employment at my level at the moment, so I'm at least in for the short haul.

Gemma & I are making our live debut on Monday night at the Excelsior in Surry Hills at about 7.30pm. We're only doing 2 songs, so it'll all be over in about 10 minutes, but it's a good opportunity to check out the competition & network our arses off if there's half a chance of a proper gig in the near future. We have about 40 odd minutes of material, so we're nearly ready. After a drunken writing & rehearsal session last night & a last minute panic rehearsal this coming Sunday, it'll be alright on the night...

Which reminds me - time to re-string the Matron.

Later... The funny things you find trawling around on your Friends page...

Just for the record, my eyes look nothing like the ones in the picture...
