My last remaining Grandparent left us on Tuesday morning. She'd been in a home for the last couple of years, going increasingly deaf & senile, but could have searing moments of lucidity, when her old, quite 'naughty' (for her generation, anyway) sense of humour came up for air...

Anyway, she had a fall at the home & died in hospital 2 days later. My Mother is taking the loss of her Mother quite hard, as expected & dealing with the inevitable paperwork & planning is both a blessing & a curse.

For my part, I have a eulogy to write & 3 pieces of appropriate music to find for the funeral

So far, my thoughts are Love's Theme, by the Love Unlimited Orchestra for the Get everybody seated in the Chapel music, then Louis Armstrong's A Kiss To Build A Dream On for the photo montage, but I'm a bit stuck on the Get everybody up & out of the Chapel music... Trying very hard to not go with 'Staying Alive', or anything that mentions fire, or burning, which - given her love of 50s rock, leaves out Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley & Johnny Cash... so no hunks of burning love, balls, or rings of fire... Maybe I'll go a safe route & use In The Mood by Glenn Miller's Orchestra...

A trip to a CD shop in the next couple of days, methinks

Agreed.

We've been a little bit thankful that my dad went last year, and didn't have to watch coronavirus unfold from his assisted living facility.
