A busy Day Off...

Mostly spent on the other side of the Harbour, visits both personal & professional, then brunch in Darlinghurst, then some homeware shopping a little further south, before fleeing back to the north side for a bit more homeware shopping, then home to start assembling some of the new stuff. Let's try the bookshelf first...

After the first couple of screws proved reluctant to go properly into the pre-drilled holes for them, I threatened them with a hammer. When the next 2 were the same, I hit them & all the subsequent ones until they bloody well did go in. After completing that section of the assembly, I referred to the instructions & discovered I'd been using the wrong screws... my excuse being that they look very similar to the right ones. Having belted half a dozen of them into place with a hammer, they weren't going to be coming back out... so I have to buy a pack of something similar at a hardware store tomorrow. Everything else went well &, for once, all the parts were present & correct & in the right quantity. Should be a good set of shelves when it can stand up without falling apart... Can't deny it felt pretty good giving something some solid, repetitive whacks with a large hammer - even when it turned out to be a mistake, the release of tension & some feel-good hormones was positively therapeutic

Might take the hammer to work tomorrow & have it prominently displayed on my desk, within easy reach... If anyone asks, I'll say it belongs to the Complaints Department
