Tim Brooke-Taylor has passed away from the dreaded Covid19...
My weeknights in the 70s & 80s would have been a lot more serious & a whole lot less funny & silly without him, along with Graeme Garden & Bill Oddie in The Goodies... I discovered later how far back his comedy career went, in other shows & radio programs he was involved in during the 60s &, like all the members of Monty Python, it was fascinating to see how they all came together through these various sketch & topical comedy shows, before coalescing into the 'ultimate' vehicle
I looked on Youtube this morning for the perfect Goodies sketch to post &, instead, found something I'd never seen before - Tim making an appearance on The Paul Hogan Show, back when Paul was actually funny, had good writers & no plastic surgery. Like most humour from the 70s, it skates a bit close to the line, but not in a mean-spirited way
Vale Tim... If only you had emigrated to Australia, you would still be here, making us laugh
