What kind of person would have fun being crammed into a windowless room, with far-too-efficient air conditioning making the room cold – despite the large number of people there, get charged $11 for 2 drinks – which get half spilled on the way back to your location – again because of the large number of people there, then having your personal space totally eroded by even more people arriving, then having your ears blasted by 2 loud rock bands – one of whom was, to quote Reynardo, ‘the Dead Kennedys fronted by Jimmy Barnes & Ian Curtis (Joy Division)’, whereupon the seething mass of humanity around you starts violently lurching from side to side & back to front & every other direction possible. Then, when the headlining band comes on, multiply all of the above factors by about 10 & add the occasional headbutt, dirty look, kicked ankle & toes being stood on. And did I mention the volume?

Well, I don’t know what kind of person I am, but Reynardo & I went to see the Beasts Of Bourbon at the Gaelic Club on Friday night, experienced all of the above & had a great time!!

The rest of the weekend was pretty quiet, by comparison, despite the ringing in my ears, which is still there – albeit only slightly... A bit of songwriting, a bit of recording, a lot of housework & finally seeing ‘House Of Flying Daggers’ last night.

Glad you had fun.

I recommend steel-capped boots next time - I'm told they're the only way to survive a concert like that.

Funnily enough, both of us were discussing that option by about halfway through the first band!!
