Our tech-savvy friend came over again tonight... just for dinner & Game of Thrones this time ~ wouldn't want him to think we only appreciate him for his cyber-talents

And in fact we don't. He's a wonderful guy & great fun to be around... if only he'd learn that while it's all very well to be able to go from 0 ~ 100 there are a lot of interesting numbers between those two that it's nice to slow down & savour. Be Here... Now

In the desperate search for other news ~ I think I'm falling out of love with a favourite author after about a dozen books. Her formula was once charming, then comfortably familiar, but lately boring. I think this latest one will be my last & a 2nd-Hand book store or stall will be my collection's next stop

Everybody has one good book in them ~ as the saying goes. Over twelve is pushing it. Or scraping it... whichever way you prefer your barrel metaphor

I would love to have one good book in me. I'm hoping that it's still in there somewhere; if my NaNoWriMo attempts are any indication, it sure hasn't come out yet. Maybe I'm doing what your ex-favorite author did, but in reverse: get the crappy ones out first, and THEN hit them with the winner. Yes. I should convince myself that that's what is happening.

OH THE HUGE MANATEE...

Is there a Sci-Fi/Fantasy equivalent of Harlequin or Mills & Boon ~ you could bash out a dozen or so with only minor variations of plot, just ramp up the sex factor & keep yourself in cash while you work on the Magnum Opus

I keep thinking about the comedy/rock'n'roll/detective story I co-wrote with a friend about 15 years ago... It took us 6 months to write & I've spent the last decade & a half alternately re-writing it & hiding it in a closet. It was mostly written under the influence of copious amounts of alcohol

Oh the Spumante!!!

Sorry... best pun I could think of. See why I'm not a writer??

So you're saying that your favorite author is Laurel K. Hamilton, is that it? ;-) Maybe I should give it a go...

Alcohol is the best writing partner ever and I will hear no argument to the contrary. I was never good at writing comedy; somehow it only sounded good in my head when I said it, but on paper it looked cheesy. This could be because my sense of humor is, in fact, cheesy.
