Errgghh... Arrgghh... I've been poisoned.

Well okay, strictly speaking I poisoned myself. Nice to know that, even at my age, I'm still not old enough to know better, so going out for dinner & (a lot of) drinks on what was a Friday night for everyone else but a Thursday night for me seemed like a great idea at the time.

Not at 8.15 this morning it didn't. Nor for the next 9 hours at work. Why do I keep forgetting about the thumping headache'n'hangover I get after enjoying liberal amounts of Scotch Whiskey??!!?? Red wine & Guinness don't do this to me (well, they might if I drank them together...), but Scotch never fails to deliver a Glasgow kiss to my brain the morning after.

In other news, a music label in Europe has issued an LP of my first band's early work & the reviews have been positive. Twenty three years ago, when we recorded it, it would have been nice to know we were doing work that was appreciated by people on the other side of the world, it may have kept the band going longer... & further.

Read all about it here & also here...

And now... bed.

Omg, that's your NAME! I got so caught up in reading the actual text that it totally made me start and giggle when I saw your name and I'm like "Hey, I KNOW him!" *snort*

So are there going to be some royalties actually trickling in? Or should we not hold our breaths? :p

I won't be holding my breath...

What will be nice is hearing those early pieces on something other than the slowly disintegrating cassettes I've had for all these years. Being from the Old School, there's something more 'real' about holding an LP record. I think it will feel better than getting the first CD of my work...

I'm impressed - you managed to dine across the Date Line? *grins, ducks, runs*

Glad you survived work despite the throbbing head, though.

As for the rave reviews, I both congratulate you and share your frustration. More than one band I've been involved with had an apparently enthusiastic audience on the wrong side of the planet; apparently it's not just in operatic circles that the way to succeed in Australia is to get out...

Any chance for a European reunion tour, should the stars align for such a thing?

I'll be meeting with my ex-bandmate soon to collect my copies of the LP. Who knows which twists & turns the conversation will take over a bottle of red?

He's been far more 'visibly' active musically over the intervening years, with varying degrees of 'success' but consistent commitment. I don't know if he'd even be interested. I'm curious about it, but wouldn't lose any sleep if nothing happened...
