Of Sun , Surf & Sand

Went to Warriewood beach yesterday & discovered two more things I used to do easily & now can't...
First:~ As far as I'm concerned, the main reason for going to the beach is to get into the surf, which I did at the earliest opportunity, after battling the blanket & towels down onto the sand, covering up the water bottles & removing t-shirt & sunglasses... Man the waves were rough!! The flagged swimming area was only about 25 metres across, but not many people were in the water & even fewer of them were attempting to body-surf the choppy, irregular swell. I used to love the surf & would almost have to be dragged out of the water, but about fifteen minutes into my second foray, I began to feel weary & noticed I was being pulled across by a small rip. This after my head was whipped around by an awkward wave breaking over the top of me. Time to go in, I thought... this bodysurfing is a young man's game.
Second:~ I never used to get sunburned very badly. Suffice to say that yesterday I did... across the front & back of my shoulders which made driving to work today & carrying large boxes around an 'interesting' exercise in stoicism & pain management.
Happy Birthday SG
