Cabaret, like you've never seen before...
Notorious seductress and mystic chanteuse Jaqi Pascoe is back, after a long absence from the stage, in a one-off event at The Broadway Cafe on Sunday 5 October.
A provocative mix of fine songs, bold costumes and Jaqi's controversial philosophies on sex, drugs, politics and religion, the show features sparkling original songs alongside the music of Leonard Cohen, Nina Simone, Nick Cave, Etta James and others.
“I want people to come away from my shows really inspired,” smiles the songstress, “but also maybe a bit shocked, a bit confronted. Because these are not trivial ideas; it's the real meat of life I'm playing with. So we have a lot of fun in the moment, but you'll go away thinking, wow... how do I really feel about that?”
Says Jaqi: Sex, drugs, politics, religion – it's all one to me. Wine, woman, song; sacred and profane revelation – music makes a magic space for us to fill with dreams and laughter, tears and memories, inspiration and celebration. A Night With Jaqi Pascoe is spent tangled in these satin sheets.
A Night with Jaqi Pascoe will be performed under the auspices of Eclectica, a festival evening produced by Louise Hird. Jaqi and her band will feature after performances by poet Allan Stephenson and roots music duo Lynch Morello, creating a night of varied and fascinating entertainment.
The evening starts at 6pm with an eclectic mix of supporting acts, and we recommend early arrival to procure the best seats. The Broadway Cafe is a licenced venue with an extensive dinner and cocktail menu.
