Huzzah!! The death of the tie is nigh!!

I've always hated wearing a tie. I don't mind getting all spruced up in a suit & accoutrements for a special occasion, but have, by & large, managed to avoid jobs requiring daily strangulation with a swatch of cloth. Possibly a reaction to 12 years of wearing one to school.

Next to go ~ the top button on shirts.

And... a bit later... what's going on in Canada??!! Six feet from under...

Ties bad. The QLD police commissioner actually led a campaign to get rid of them, which is why most of the time you see QLD police without ties (other than particular uniforms). I have worn a tie once in the past five years.

I'm amused that ties are now deemed a health risk in hospitals.

Though I did raise a gothly eyebrow at:
For those waiting to see if men will once again embrace the constriction that comes with ties, she suggests looking to examples in women's fashion.

"You know," she says, "corsets never came back."

Technically she's right - corsetry only rarely makes a foray into the mainstream - but it's hardly slunk away to die a quiet death...
