Work... Play ~ What's The Other Thing?
Jan. 11th, 2008 10:19 am6 hours sleep in 96 hours... hanging in there.
Played another of those singer/songwriter gigs last night with a couple of RokChikz & a guitarist/good friend I haven'tduelled duetted with on guitars for a few years too long. It was good to see we still play off each other almost instinctively.
All the usual problems with such gigs were present ~ the hurry up & wait rush to get there, only to find there's nothing to do for 2 hours, then the mad rush to get guitars tuned, plugged in, find chairs to sit on, find the song list, then wait as the sound guy fails to make the keyboard make any sound at all for 5 minutes, then forgets to include my guitar in the mix... So far, so standard. The 'performance' itself went with only a few hitches, as to be expected with scant rehearsal & 2 new songs, but on the whole went better than I'd dreaded it would. Despite my general issue 'Stay Away' edict, Reynardo turned up, sat at the front & took performance notes, which I'll peruse in detail given time...
And time is short today, as the Hobbit placed ads in the local papers for a "Clearance Sale, no reasonable offer... bring a trailer... etc", then didn't tell me about it. I turned up at Hell today, with no coffee or breakfast (the good local cafe is STILL closed!!) to find people lined up outside, all wanting their bargains ~ what those bargains are I still have no idea, as the Hobbit is apparently working those out as I type...
Didn't I resign in early December??
( I don't do memes any more, but... )
