THE GOOD
2 days off in a row after 9 days straight at the outdoor furniture warehouse.

A 'Meet The (extended) Family' dinner at a Chinese restaurant in Yagoona... cognac, Tiger beer & a pair of kids with the same names as my sister & I... Freaky!!

SpiderMan III on the IMax screen twice in 3 days ~ a second chance to confirm my initial positive opinion... sorry Maelefic, I liked it a lot!!

Indian buffet in Newtown, Yum Cha at Marigold in the city, coffee at the Lindt cafe in Darling Harder Harbour, Guinness at my local RSL & at the Occidental Hotel in Wynyard, 'gourmet' pizza with SarinG & ZenSiren at home last night.

The treasured gift of the US limited edition of Memento ~ complete with packaging resembling a case file & special features galore... including the option of watching the movie forwards!!

Far too much good food, enough good wine & plenty of good company to provide sufficient distraction from...

THE BAD
The practice of 'fishing', for want of a better expression, by employment agencies... by which they lure the unsuspecting jobless & desperate into their interwebs by advertising jobs that don't exist ~ or don't exist any more. Such was the case today, when I was assured (yet again) by a consultant that, just because the job I wanted was gone, they could still help me get another. If I had a dollar for every time etc... I wouldn't need a job as desperately as I do now...

Double shots of quality cognac given to me in Yagoona... when I live on the Northern Beaches. 'Nuff said.

Running out of money in the Fortnight Of Non-Abstinence even faster than I did during the previous fortnight & having to dip into the PANIC!!! fund... something I'm loath to do, as the interest rate is poverty-unfriendly. Leading to...

Receiving generous acts of charity when I'm in no position to reciprocate. I'm uncomfortable with it, because I'm not used to it & have no intention of getting used to it, but have no idea when I'll be able to return the favour(s). That hurts.

Sitting next to a bunch of young, dumb & full of...scum idiots at IMax on Friday night during my first viewing of SpiderMan III. The kind of idiots that leech IQ points from you by sheer proximity. Midway through the film, they began throwing popcorn at each other. Their aim was... poor. I caught an errant piece, threw it back at my next-door-neanderthal & let him know in no audible terms what would happen if I caught another stray missile.

2 nights in a row of not-enough sleep. Both nights I woke from bad dreams at about 2.30-3am & afterwards failed to do anything but fitfully doze until daylight whereupon I either gave up, or hunger drove me to a vertical state.

A bus journey from my home suburb to the centre of town that cost more than the bridge toll if I'd driven & took longer than a ferry trip from Manly that would only have been a dollar more expensive & would have at least had a decent view... No wonder the Northern Beaches have the highest rate of DUIs... you should also try getting a bus back to here after 9pm!!

THE UGLY
An episode of Anatomy For Beginners on SBS tonight, which I've just finished watching ~ a combination of graphs, computer generated visuals, live models &... dead ones which are sliced, diced & displayed. It's interesting that they cover the cadaver's face with a cloth, yet treat the rest of the body with the appropriate scientific disdain. Having been alerted to the show by ZenSiren earlier, I spent the subsequent half-hour with my legs crossed... the subject was the reproductive organs... The amazing thing was how the body can fit so much stuff into such a small space!!
