The Hangover From Hell
May. 14th, 2007 10:08 amI'm just starting to feel proto-hominid again, after a really good Saturday night... & then having to work on Sunday.
If there's any justice in the world, Maelefic will have woken to the thumping of drums & the pains of shattering glass inside his head like I did yesterday. Probably not, though...
It all started with dinner in Newtown with SarinG, Dorukai & the aforementioned M at Circle 8. The place was pretty crowded, but we talked a waiter into letting us squeeze 'round a small table near the entrance, opened a red & a white &...
Afterwards there were a couple of rounds at the pub up the road, then a quick trip to the Annandale Hotel to see True Live, who were great as usual, but I'm not sure that a 'rock' venue is the ideal place for a classical/jazz/hip-hop fusion band with no guitars. Certainly the PA & sound guy weren't geared for the subtle interplay between strings & keyboards - 2 instruments that are usually drowned out by guitars in other bands. Still, a good gig & a shame SarinG had to leave a bit early, missing out on the cover medley of AC-DC/Led Zeppelin/Snoop Dogg. If memory serves... & things were getting a little fuzzy by then ~ thanks to the red, the white, the Guinness, the Stella... (so it probably doesn't!!) ~ the songs were 'Back In Black', 'Whole Lotta Love' & 'Drop It Like It's Hot'.
The trip home via taxi & bus is still a bit of a blur, but I do remember it being a short one, for a change. The next memory is of the throbbing drums & shattering glass at about 9am, as mentioned above.
A session with ZenSiren & her returned paramour last night, where I wasn't exactly at the top of my guitar-playing game, but I did get to hear what the new stereo & speakers sound like when cranked to 'street party' levels. I'm just the tiniest bit jealous.
Today, my mother's birthday. Tomorrow..?
