A night in...

A mixed week so far ~ dinners, DVDs, the only Nine Inch Nails show in Sydney, a last-minute rescheduled working week ~ meaning a day off yesterday & a 6 day week starting Monday, a (hopefully) postponed pre-interview for a job that sounds promising... don't they all??

Nine Inch Nails were pretty darned impressive!! I hadn't been to the new new Luna Park ( as opposed to the one from my childhood that actually had rides in it!!), since they re-opened it a few years back, after countless battles with idiot local residents (the place has been there since the 1930s... it's not like you couldn't know about it, so why move there & then complain about noise!!?? It's like people who live near the airport ~ it was there long before the masses moved in, so don't complain when planes fly over your roof... but don't get me started...). It would appear that Trent Reznor didn't have a good gig & so he's canned the rest of the dates. Personally, I thought they sounded amazing, given the concrete hangar they played in, so I don't know what the issue is. The gigs are now on in September. Hopefully they'll have a different support act by then ~ the one on Wednesday was either inscrutable & impenetrable post-rock deconstruction, or a bloody loud, extremely annoying, steaming shower of drebbidge bereft of tone, tune & talent.

Breakfast yesterday at another local cafe, which advertises that it has "Arguably the best coffee in the known universe". Well, I'll take up that argument... I'm not sure which universe the proprietors are familiar with, but I'm reasonably certain it's not the same one the rest of us know. The coffee was crap & the menu was equally unimpressive. My usual local need not fear, as I told them later in the day. They thanked me for the compliment but said if I ever went to the other one again, they'd have me killed. I think they're joking...

SarinG & I ate our way through most of a barnyard last night at the Ribs'n'Rump restaurant in Manly. My first taste of kobe wagyu beef & it was everything I'd heard about, only cheaper than I'd expected. SarinG's lamb chops were nicely marinated & bountiful in number. Nice house red wine too!!

Thank god today was a physically active one at work, otherwise I wouldn't have needed to eat again 'til about Sunday... night.
