The end of my weekend.
Such as it was... I had to work both Saturday & Sunday, so it was all kind of fractured ~ Sunday wasn't that long a day of work, but it scuppered all other plans that had been put in place for attending Rock for Rights or whatever it was called... A noble cause, but apparently all the much-hyped bands playing the post-rally concert only did 2 songs each & it was all over bar the sloganeering by about 4pm... the time I finished work.
Backtracking...
Friday was a Wafflers night & my turn to give a speech. There's a different topic every month & this time 'round it was "What's A Girl To Do?". As detailed in
lederhosen's journal, the group doesn't allow speeches on sex, politics or religion, so why we had to endure a 10 minute dissertation on how feminism was wrong (from a woman!!), which broke 2 of those rules, is beyond me... As the last of 6 speakers, I was just relieved that nobody else thought to plunder the modern tabloid mags for material like I did. People laughed in the right places, so I count it as a success & well worth the 30 minutes spent writing it the night before... One of these days, I'll write one well in advance of the night, so I can memorise it, instead of reading from a script...
Saturday night, SarinG & I went bowling (this is becoming an obsession!!) with UnknownB, joined briefly by Dorukai for a typical suburban RSL bistro meal beforehand. This represented our 4th aborted intention to see 300 ~ we'll get there some time before it goes to DVD, I'm sure... well... kind of sure...
A singing'n'playing session with ZenSiren last night ~ the tango version of Light My Fire is shaping up nicely. Her herbal remedies, however, are tasting worse by the week!!
I bought my mother's 40th birthday present to me today, at about 9am ~ tickets to see Steely Dan in September. Followed by a leisurely local breakfast in the rain, a mall shopping expedition in the rain, 2 episodes of House ~ not in the rain... then dinner this evening with SarinG, Hacked2Death & Gigglz'n'Wrigglz at a favourite Italian restaurant in Kensington. Lots of food, talk & driving & walking in the rain.
Rehearsal with the outnumbered RockChikz tomorrow night, crab racing with the usual suspects on Wednesday night...
See you on Thursday!!
