Highway To Well
Jul. 10th, 2006 09:18 pmFrom Byron Bay to Balgowlah is a looonngg way to drive in one day.
I preferred the trip up, which was broken by an overnight stay in Port Macquarie, brunch in Bellingen & scotch in Ulmarra. Followed by 3 pleasant & relaxing days spent on a horse property 20 minutes outside Lismore, with good food, good company (both human & animal) & a futon... well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad.
Today's marathon drive was broken only by brunch in Coff's Harbour & a pit-stop in Bulahdelah. We left Byron Bay at 9.15am, & I walked in my front door at 8.15pm. I haven't added up the distances yet, but I can tell you that it's been 625 kilometres since I last filled OBluV8's petrol tank just outside Grafton. I pulled into the driveway tonight on the smell of an oily rag... with just 12 kilometres left in the tank, according to the whizzbang computer-thingy that knows more about my car's internal workings than I ever will.
Last week at work & only 4 days to go. Which, after a weird afternoon last Thursday, will probably be more than enough...
