I just had the misfortune to hear a song on an internet 'classic rock' radio station, by a band called... wait for it... Nightrider

The histrionically shrieked chorus of this shower of drebbidge went as follows:

"... Still rockin' America. Oh yeah! Alright!!"

Repeat ad nauseam, then cue the wibbly-wibbly fretwankery guitar solo for 36 bars, before repeating the chorus another few times & fade.

How to guarantee high-rotation airplay on US radio - mention the words 'rock'n'roll' (or some derivative) & the good ol' USA in the chorus & Hey presto, it's a hit!! Verses? Who cares - just mumble something & say 'yeah' at the end of each line... nobody listens to the verses anyway.

I can just imagine the video... & now I wish I couldn't... The spandex... the big hair... the guitar solos on cliff-tops... the gurning close-ups of an adoring audience... & bandmembers pulling 'amusing' & 'emotive' faces throughout. The kind of video that Van Halen made (in)famous. Thanks a lot Eddie!!
