Normality - who needs it?
So, back to the routine following 4 days off. The occupants upstairs buggered off to the north coast on Saturday morning, leaving me an empty 2 storey house to roam in. Naturally, the first thing I did was point OBluV8 in the direction of Canberra, stopping only to pick up a friend. An enjoyable drive there & back... "Performance Mode" & cruise control are my friends!!
Canberra itself never changes - I haven't been there in a few years & still can't find my way to the interesting suburbs, thanks to the roundabouts & lack of 90 degree street corners that let you know whether you're turning north, south, east or west. Even with a decent map! No matter where you try to go, you always end up in Queanbeyan... which can't be right... But if you want to wind up at Parliament House from anywhere in the city, then I'm your man.
Other than that, some not-so-quiet reading on the deserted Manor's sunny balcony, with my sound system self-dusting itself via application of the 2 latest albums by the Church & the appropriate volume levels, then some bareknuckle gardening - tackling the weeds & persistent grass that keep invading the herb garden. Final score: Me a weed & grass-free garden. Grass & weeds 3 bleeding fingers & a sore back. I'd call it an even match. The fingers should heal in time for the upcoming gig... for which there's a rehearsal tomorrow night. Should be interesting... we're supposed to be going through the selected cover songs & I haven't even listened to them since Friday - let alone played them...
An unexpected, but not unwelcome night in tonight, so it's been me, I-tunes, a basic pasta dish, then the new Keith Urban DVD... I know, I know, but I've been a fan since I saw him playing in the foyer of the Tamworth Workers Club in 1987 - when I was camping with a team playing in a women's hockey tournament.
But that's another story.
