So... Easter.
Been a strange week - felt like being alone at home for most of it... completely failed to achieve that for almost all of it.
Still watching the dust settle from the various disturbances of late & still racing around the 4 corners of this town for work presentations, then spending far more time in the office than desired preparing proposals for the people with the purse-strings.
Had the 2 members of the
Joshua band here today - the band I keep thinking I've left, but they keep coming back - ostensibly for a same-old same-old rehearsal, that turned into a pick-my-brains vocal arrangement session & then picking cover songs for a benefit gig we've been invited to do in May. Something to do with eating disorders, Nova 969FM & the drummer's other 2 bands not wanting any part of it... I've enlisted my foil to assist during the cover songs & we may get to play some of
our instrumental stuff if the setlist permits...
Otherwise, a typical
Joshua rehearsal - play a song, roll a joint, sit on the couch... play a song, roll a joint, sit on the couch... repeat until your guitarist tears his hair out in frustration!!!
Saw Daniel Lanois at the Basement on Wednesday night... Feeling inspired!! And footsore!!! They've removed all the barstools from the bar area, don't ask me why - so, if you turn up early to bag a good viewing spot (as I did), you end up standing around for 5 hours. My feet haven't ached that much since my retail days... Booking a table there costs an extra $35 on top of the $50 for the ticket & then you have to eat their extremely average food. And
don't get me started about their bar prices. What
really annoys me is that they keep getting good musicians to play there, so I have to keep showing up...
Later... And for those of you who wonder about my outlook on the state of the nation...
