There have been mutterings at work for the last couple of weeks that a trivia team should be formed to take on the pubs that offer money for the regurgitation of useless information.

And so it came to pass this this evening, that representatives of the sales team (moi), the hire department, accounts & a jack-of-all-trades converged on the Bayview Tavern, with a view to collecting the $400 jackpot on offer...

Well, we won the $44 between-rounds contest, came 3rd in the overall competition & got 2 of the 3 jackpot questions correct... Who the hell knows or remembers what Ellen & Ebeneezer Butterick invented & patented in 1863!!?? Answers by e-mail, or in the comments section & I'll give you a clue - it wasn't Coca Cola...

We'll be back next week... faster... better... & hopefully smarter...

The official answer given was sewing patterns for dresses, but 2 teams said sewing patterns & the jackpot prize was split between 'em.

Dammit, we had 2 women on our team - unfortunately both in their early 20s & unlikely to recognise one end of a (sewing) needle from the other...

who will repair the next generations clothes??

Paper patterns, to make it easier for the home sewer to keep up with the fashions.

Next time call me.

(And Butterick patterns are still running today)

Unfortunately we had 60 seconds from question 3 (which was the Butterick one)to get our answers in... so no 'phone a friend' lifeline was possible.

Somehow, I knew you'd know... At least I do too... now...
