My guitarist counterpart (counterpoint?) in Daylan has himself a new toy...

It's a soundcard for his new PC that comes with one of the easiest to understand digital recording software packages I've ever seen.

Of course we spent this evening playing with it. Our soundtrack for the short film "The Intruder" was never mixed down to stereo for playing on a normal hifi, it was only mixed in 5.1 for the film... & we didn't get a copy of that, because it was mixed in with all the other effects & sounds of the film. So, tonight we made a start on a CD mix. Interesting that we spent half the evening adding effects to the basic tracks, then spent the other half removing them, because the basic tracks sound great on their own. This was a soundtrack written in a week, recorded in a day - all done with maximum speed & minimal expense - just Bernard & myself, 3 guitars, our respective bags of electronic whizzbangery & Joshua manning the Cubase controls. And it sounds great. Proof that sometimes simple is best... proven by the wasted hours this evening adding unnecessary fiddly twiddly bits to it.

Hopefully it will be done by the time Melbourne Elizabeth comes up for a break/holiday at the end of the month. Looking forward to that?? Yes indeed.

Which reminds me, a) your icons have been severely reduced by your no longer having a paid account and b) in need of drummer and/or keyboardist? I have a friend...

and c) Shall I pick you up for Friday or will you make your own way?
