Oh dear... it's official. I must be getting old.

I bought 2 concert DVDs last weekend ~ David Gilmour - Remember That Night & Peter Gabriel - Still Growing Up. A pair of performers who've been around since the late 60s/early 70s who, in my not-so-humble opinion, blow away just about every act from the last 10 years (at least!!) when it comes to musicianship, presentation, integrity & professionalism.

Even Nine Inch Nails at the Hordern last month (which was pretty f@%!ing good!!) wasn't as transcendent as these 2 guys shows ~ just on DVD!! The Tori Amos show at the Opera House last week was the closest modern equivalent I can think of...

At least I know I'm not turning into my father ~ he hates Peter Gabriel!!

It doesn't mean you're getting old.

Because when I watch Peter Gabriel's concerts (particularly Secret World Live) I think exactly the same thing.

Is the Gilmour one good? I'm rather fond of the associated album.

It's really good! He plays the 'On An Island' album in it's entirety, then throws in old PF tracks like 'Echoes', a couple of 'Dark Side...' songs & even 'Arnold Layne'!! The show itself goes for about 2 1/2 hours, then there's a 2nd disc of extra tracks, backstage stuff etc...

It'll take me a while to get through the extra features on both these DVDs. Time well spent, I'd say.

Blast. I was afraid you'd say that, since I'm carefully sheperding shekels at the moment. Oh well. I'll put it on my list.

Gah, I am so envious right now. *bites lip*

So I take it you approve of Gilmour's solo effort? I mean, the Island album? *curious*

I like most of the album. It's not one of those CDs you put on & play from beginning to end & love every track, but it's pretty close & the live version does work better ~ as one could expect, given that most music improves the more you play it & play with it...

But then, I'm a Pink Floyd fan from waaay back (197... never you mind...), so I could be a little bit biased.

The DVD is totally 100% absolutely enjoyable, if not essential, viewing.
