Whilst researching an answer to a comment from UnknownB on one of my earlier entries, I came across this clip of Tommy Emmanuel attempting to play Classical Gas

If I only ever play half as well as him, I'll die happy.

Apropos of that... & for no other good reason, here's a photo of my guitar collection:

I have seen various interviews with him and heard him speak of his history. Amazing musician, and not widely recognised. For me, he's part of the pantheon that includes Robert Johnson and Eric Clapton.

That's quite a guitar collection you have there! Clearly enjoying themselves picnicking.

As for myself, I picked up an entry-level steel-string acoustic (Squier SA100) and am currently having fun playing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (today we play Twinkle Twinkle, tomorrow we take on the world! muahaha). I'm finding it trickier than I expected not to touch more than one string, particularly on the first fret, but I'm sure I will learn to overcome that in due course (especially if my fingers toughen up and don't flatten so much). I will have to get you to debug my technique next time you are over.

Debug your technique?? Well, maybe tweak it a little for practicality, but it's the bugs that make it sound like you. I've never had a guitar lesson in my life, so I'm probably doing all sorts of things wrong too, but I'm reluctant to have a teacher iron out all my kinks, idiosyncracies & interesting mistakes. If someone could just show me how to play slide properly, that's all I ask.

But I have fun, I can usually play what I hear in my head & people sometimes like it. What more can one ask for... apart from the opportunity to make a living from it?

Certainly is ~ purchased years ago from a shop in Windsor. I was only thinking yesterday I should play it more often...

I love them...tried to learn when I was young from my mother (she had a couple + a banjo), but alas I have wussy stubby fingers to be any good at it.
