Spending For A Rainy Day
Nov. 11th, 2004 11:10 pmI like this current arrangement with the weather gods.
I like the way I get rained on during the week & the weekends are sunny. I'm enjoying spending the week scratching at low level sunburn that turns brownish after a few days. I haven't had a tan in a few years & can definitely say I look better for it. Melanomas be damned. I'd rather die tanned early than live forever white.
The only thing I'm not enjoying about the rain is driving to all 4 corners of this town along roads filled with people who forget how to drive as soon as the heavens open. Given that there's a lot of people who don't know how to drive on the roads when it's dry &/or sunny, that makes travel in the rain an experience fraught with danger more common than I'd like.
$500 worth of bills paid today. That leaves a substantial hole in the spendings account, with a week to go 'til payday. A tank of petrol costs about $60 - $70 at the moment... I'll probably need 2 before next Friday... The dreaded school reunion happens this weekend & I get the feeling that $100 worth of drinks won't be enough. And the Church are playing at the Metro next Thursday...
Toast & vegemite for the next few days ought to see me through... Thank god for Buffy... & Angel... & Tom Waits... & a full larder... & Leonard Cohen...
"I fought against the bottle, but I had to do it drunk."
Cheers
