In the absence of anything constructive to do here at the ranch (nobody's returning any of my calls & so my 2 quote/proposals have stalled), I thought I'd take the time to look through a glass darkly at my formative years...

1. Who were your best friends?

At school - Stuart & Andy... now an advertising executive & an electronic musician/psychologist, respectively.

2. What sports did you play?

One season of Rugby Union that I was lucky to survive (being small, they made me play hooker - the one in the middle of the scrums!!), cricket, soccer, rowing.

3. What kind of car did you drive?

Very occasionally, a WWII jeep, but I didn't get my licence 'til I was at University.

4. It's Friday night, where were you at?

Sometimes at home, sometimes at parties, sometimes making/recording music.

5. Were you a party animal?

Not then, not now.

6. Were you considered a flirt?

Not then, not now.

7. Ever skip school?

Yes... it was a long way from home to school, I had to go through the city on the journey & there could be a lot of distractions on offer... especially Red Eye Records.

8. Were you a nerd?

Not in the computer sense - Apple Macs were only just coming in, but I certainly wasn't one of the "in-crowd".

9. Did you ever get suspended/expelled?

No.

10. Can you sing the Alma mater?

About the first 6 lines of it... it was written in Latin & the tune was ripped off from Gaudeamus... see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Brevitate_Vitae for why this is funny.

11. Who was your favorite teacher?

Either Berndt Fichtner (German teacher... unsurprisingly), or Gordon Shrubb - our looney 3U English teacher.

12. Favorite class?

Either of the above.

13. What was your school's full name?

Cranbrook School. Short, sharp, to the point...

14. School mascot?

We didn't really have one, but if we did, it was probably the female lab assistant.

15. Did you go to Prom?

The Year 12 Formal - yes. Held at the Hilton Hotel. Notable for 2 things... my picking up another guy's date & a bunch of football meatheads drunken rampage through the upper floors - resulting in the school being banned from the Hilton chain (Whether this was/is an international ban or not, is uncertain).

16. If you could go back and do it over, would you?

Maybe selected highlights/lowlights, but only if I could know then what I know now...

17. What do you remember most about graduation?

Not attending it, due to rehearsal for the evening concert.

18. Favorite memory of your Senior Year?

Studying for the HSC on my balcony, with loud music blasting from my new, large stereo.

19. What were you voted in your yearbook?

We didn't have this system... just the requisite embarrassing photos.

20. Did you have a job your senior year?

I had a job with a PR firm just before year 12. It paid for the above-mentioned stereo.

21. Where did you go most often for lunch?

Anywhere far from the madd(en)ing crowd.

22. Have you gained weight since then?

Undoubtedly, but hopefully proportionately.

23. What did you do after graduation?

Enjoyed the summer, waited for HSC results & University application results, made music.

24. Who was your crush?

Louise Fay.

25. When did you graduate?

1984.
