An Unexcited Party
May. 19th, 2006 10:34 pmWent to a wedding in the Shire tonight, as a favour to an old friend in need of an "& Partner", as per the invitation.
Lots of nuggety little blokes, their wives, partners & kids squeezed into the Cronulla Surf Club, which has certainly seen wilder times in the not-too-distant past. A good, basic, no-frills wedding for good, basic, no-frills people. Jatz & cheese, a hot'n'cold buffet dinner & VB on tap. A more polar opposite to the ex-girlfriend's wedding at the MCA a couple of weeks ago, you'd be hard pressed to find. No idea who the happy couple are, but they seemed nice enough.
The bride remembers meeting me at a party I hosted in Newtown in 1994... I didn't remember her at all. In fact, I barely remember the party in question, but it must have been held somewhere between the Collapsing Kitchen Floor Disaster & the Great Rehearsal Room Fire, after which I moved out - in search of, if not a more stable life, then certainly a more stable house.
