Warning!! Musical Rantage Ahead!!!

waitingmanOkay... the voting lines are open for "Worst Song Of The Decade"
My vote goes to a shower of appalling drebbidge I just had the misfortune to catch on MusicMax (a Foxtel Channel), a dreadful faux-country good ol' boy mid tempo ballad called 'Amazed By You by some bunch of tryhards called ... wait for it... Lonestar. Featuring key-changes instead of an actual melody, it's sung with such passion & conviction that I've forgotten the "tune" already... & it's only been 2 minutes!! The experience, however, will unfortunately linger in both the mind's ear & eye.
In fact, it could most likely take out the gong for "Worst Video" as well - a bunch of paunchy, middle-aged, greying blokes in black t-shirts, lip-synching on some retro-futuristic-geometric, neon-lit stage, intercut with a token blonde twenty-something in various poses & stages of undress (including an obligatory bath scene), pouting at the camera & completely failing to convince me she's thinking about anything other than how far her appearance fee will go towards paying off that pair of Jimmy Choos she's had her eye on in a shop on Rodeo Drive...
Honestly, it makes the latest effort from Nickelback seem like Mozart with a filmclip by Bergman...
I think I'd rather sit through that f@#*ing Crazy Frog thing 50 times over, than have to endure that 3.5 minutes of torture-dressed-up-as-treasure again. It just makes my blood boil that somebody paid good money for the recording of both the song & video - money that could have been better spent on... almost anything else - a Presidential assassination... developing a mass-marketable electric engine... evicting the Catholic missionaries from Africa & thus going a long way towards halting the AIDS epidemic... some fully armed submarines to sink Japanese 'scientific' whaling ships... Hell, even donating to my retirement fund would be a more worthwhile cause than giving Lonestar the misguided belief that they're contributing anything of worth to the musical continuum. And yet... now the same someone will cough up even more money for them to record an album, just because the video's on rotation, so it must be a hit!!
... goes off to put 'Hangin' Tough' by NKOTB on the CD player...
