A very walking weekend... one where you don't always end up where you think you might, or at the time you might have thought you might have... maybe.

An example. On Saturday morning at 10.30 I parked Auric, the pre-millennium Falcon, at Milsons Point & walked over the Harbour Bridge to Chinatown for a midday birthday yum cha, stopping off for present shopping en route (it doesn't take an hour & a half to walk to Chinatown...). At 2.30 Sunday morning I returned home from Ettalong Beach on the central coast, having driven there & back in Auric. Somewhere in the middle of all that were pubs & restaurants in town, a walk back over the bridge, Rose Bay, 2 pubs in Ettalong, Tim Friedman performing solo in a lurid club lounge & the most convoluted trip back to Rose Bay, via Dulwich Hill, Newtown & every suburb in between, before finally fumbling with keys & stumbling into bed in Balgowlah.

It all seemed like a good idea at the time... just completely unplanned - apart from the yum cha, but I hadn't planned on that going for 5 hours either... Sunday was similarly spontaneous (more walking, less driving), as was this evening (no walking, just talking), which I've just dragged myself in from. I wish I lived closer to my friends... or at least on the other side of the harbour, so the drive home isn't as long.

Nice to see that my New Year's Resolution to unplan my life is still holding up 9 months later... I now plan to get some sleep.
