Rhetorical.
I started my Christmas shopping over the weekend &, as mentioned, found so many things I'd like, it's unfair. Trouble is... they weren't things that I thought anyone else would appreciate, so I either gave in & bought them for myself anyway, or reluctantly replaced them on the shelf, vowing to return during the inevitable post-Christmas sale to reconsider...
'Twas the last working week before Christmas & it got off to a flying start today, with the turning down of a substandard work offer from a company that had been promising me more & better. Given the choice between my current frying pan & their offered freezer, I reluctantly chose the heat (I don't even take ice with single malt scotch - why take it in a job??). Yes, there's a longer story behind the cryptic summary. No, it's really not worth telling it...
I was supposed to be slaving over a hot computer tonight, burning highly personalised, but highly illegal, compilation CDs for various family & friends Christmas cheer, but 2/3s of Batman Forever & a looonngg call from Melbourne Elizabeth put well-paid to that... willingly, I might add. Just like the speech for last Friday night was written at midnight on Thursday (laughs in all the intended places & a critically warm-ish response, I'm pleased to report), I seem to do my best work under pressure of time. And there are still a few sleeps 'til the 'big day', so plenty of time to review & refine the proposed playlists. I just hope my version of Nero can fiddle for a long period of time whilst ROM burns... thanks for the pun Lederhosen.
According to my answering machine, my Christmas present to myself will arrive some time between 8 & 9am tomorrow - a looonngg low bookshelf that should hold the CD collection (so far...) - all 1000 odd +...
