Society differences... that's all. For all our image as care-free, she'll-be-right, wild colonial boy outlaws, we're by & large a fairly obedient society &, as I've mentioned before, quite politically apathetic - as long as basic stuff works, it doesn't really matter which major party is in power. Which is, overall, a pretty good thing... especially when it comes to dealing with the pandemic
We just don't seem to get so up-in-arms about 'attacks' on our personal freedom & are more inclined to see our politicians as just slightly elevated public servants, rather than servants of some shadowy cabal bent on world domination & enslavement. Not being even remotely seen as any kind of world power probably helps - No responsibility? No worries!!
