B&W, or Colour?

Out & about for work today, I had the chance to snap a couple of photos of a large storm off Manly Beach. Whether it was the same one that rolled over the top of WaitingManor at 3am, shattering the night-time silence with an almighty CRASH of thunder, followed shortly after by ANOTHER ONE!!! is unknown...

I can't decide if I like the colour photo, or the black & white one. Here are both, then...

I like the intense blue of the color photo but the black and white highlights the people better. They both have very good contrast and detail. In this case I think I prefer the color photo.

I was going to weigh in with my preference, but I can't decide. I do love the blue of the first one! But the B&W one is more dramatic.

Having viewed them both a few times now, I think the storm in the colour photo looks better... Maybe I'll try a B&W version of it

The colour one was taken about ½ an hour after the B&W one, so the storm looks a bit bigger. Maybe I'll do a B&W version of that one too...

I love the deep blue sky in the first one.

The second one reminds me of 1950s photos of atomic tests!
