Banned Practice

Well, at least no blood was spilled.
The expected fireworks between the slowburning guitarist & the passive/aggressive drummer failed to ignite yesterday, despite perfect conditions - the rest of the band being 90 minutes late to my house, the interminable setting-up process, the drummer's discovery that he didn't have all the leads & plugs necessary for his flash electronic kit, the practice regimen of 1 song played to 1 joint smoked, followed by extended sitting on the couch (I made a point of abstaining all afternoon. Had a few drinks though...), then another couple of songs... joints ... couch.
All in all, I could see the rest of my plans for the day disappearing in the haze, as the afternoon drew on & evening arrived. However, social, professional & formal good behaviour seemed to be the order of the day, so why argue.
It was a closer thing later in the evening when I went to visit a close friend, who coincidentally shares a house with the drumstick insect & he came home unexpectedly. She & I had actually made plans to go out, but the never-ending rehearsal had put paid to them & an evening of DVDs was decided on. True to my heated promise from Wednesday night, I didn't speak to him in this social situation & left as soon as the movie was over (Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas' - excellent film!!).
And so, today, a visit from a cousin & his bride-to-be for wedding day planning, washing, vacuuming, cleaning (my home - not my visitors) & later a coffee or 2 before another rehearsal with a different bunch this evening. Gigs tomorrow & Wednesday night. Fiddler On The Roof on Thursday & god-only-knows-what-else... including work.
