Well, fairly brain dead for at least the first few hours...

Got to bed about 4am, after a city nightspot crawl with Liz that took in several pubs in the Rocks - which all seemed to feature the same bloke on an acoustic guitar mangling Green Day's 'Time Of Your Life' in front of a pressing crowd of British tourists... in fact they all seemed to be the same pub, even though they were several hundred metres apart - then the Cruise Bar at the overseas terminal... aaarrrggghhh!! Yuppie bar!! Aaarrrggghhh!!! $12 for 2 drinks, one of which was non-alcoholic. The place was full of blokes who looked like Ian Thorpe ( I swear there were 10 of him there...) & girls who were like elephants - nice to look at, but you wouldn't want to take one home. Ditto the Establishment on George St, except the drinks were 70c cheaper & both Liz & I were chatted up by a slightly older, but no less pachydermological crowd...

After weighing up the alternatives of Balmain & the Cross, we decided to head for the Judgment Bar in Taylor Square... via the Cross. A quick trawl past the Iguana Bar & an en route decision to stuff Taylor Square & head for Newtown... safer ground, better music, older & more sociable crowd. At the Bank Hotel, Liz was chatted up by a pair of Uni students, I was befriended by a pair of expatriate Pommie pool sharks well on their way to losing the table thanks to Aussie beer. Unfortunately they lost it to a pair of Australian pool sharks who then kicked our arses all over the table.

Beating a hasty, but still relatively dignified retreat, we returned to Rose Bay with Tobias in tow, who we'd found in Newtown after what sounded like a successful gig. So successful in fact, that the promoter had left without paying any of the bands... 'Rock'n'Roll, I gave you the best years of my life...'

A brain dead morning as predicted, then a rambling road trip day with Liz... taking in an aborted ferry trip, a hailstorm, an incredibly near-miss car incident & several pharmacies in Springwood, up in the mountains... I really know how to show a girl a good time.

By contrast, dinner with the immediate family for Fathers Day was peaceful & uneventful, unless you count the fact that the cooks forgot about us for an hour & desserts were thus on the house... I've had 2 espressos in one day & will most likely be up until sunrise... whereupon I'll have to get up for work & so will promptly fall asleep...
