Reasons We Shouldn't Have Kids Part 1 *

I mean Long-Suffering Partner & I - not the human race... though don't get me started...
Sitting quietly at our regular table at our regular Trivia Quiz night in a nearly local club, there were a few families with young kids in for early dinners & the kids, once sufficiently re-fuelled, were running around asbrats kids do. While I was at the bar, taking care of some re-fuelling of our own, L-SP heard one of the mothers call out to her daughter... "Arizona, come here right now!"... or something like that. Definitely Arizona though
Which got us thinking & talking about terrible kids names. For quite a while now, we've been telling friends & family that if we had children (unlikely & impossible, or else there'll be a medical lawsuit!!), our daughter would be Becky & our son would be Zak. Oh what great names, people say - Rebecca & Zachariah... until we tell them they're actually short for Uzbekistan & Kazakhstan. Well, we've seen kids named Asia... Paris... Chad
But naming your kids after USA states is something we hadn't considered. Imagine twin girls named North & South Carolina... or Dakota. Or you could make a nod to a recent President & name your son Alan Obama. Older & younger siblings could be Mexico & New Mexico...
We then considered Australian States, but ours are rather boring. Sure, there's Victoria, but naming your kids Western & South Australia just doesn't have the same ring of parental irresponsibility. Not like the names we came up with for two sisters - Winifred Blue & Winona Red. I'm pretty sure only my Australian reader(s) will get those ones...
Long-Suffering Partner was recently made Godmother to a friend's daughter. If there's a God, he/she/it had better look after the real mother... at least until the girl turns 18. Imagine if she came to us...
