On Second Thought...

So ~ tasty curry, good red wine & an action movie. Almost the perfect Saturday night...
Went for a second opinion on The Dark Knight last... erm... night. My sister & I both had openings in our schedules, headed to one of Balgowlah's Indian restaurants, then flipped a coin for either HellBoy II or a Batman encore. We'll probably do the other Indian restaurant & HellBoy tonight...
If you're one of the half-dozen-or-so people in the Western world who haven't seen it yet, read no further.
At first it was good being able to concentrate on the layers of the film, having been sensorily overwhelmed the first time. There's so much good stuff in that movie ~ visually, plot-wise, the way little things said almost as asides later turn out to be important. No dumb belabouring & exposition... & when characters say nothing, still conveying effectively. All the detail in the small stuff that's still been sweated over. But then the last half hour grabs you by the guts, squeezes & drags you along, just like it did the first time. Just like it did in Batman Begins too...
The only thing I still don't like is the way the Joker is left hanging... sorry! anti-climactically, as if waiting for a sequel. Good luck to the writers & any actor trying to bring that character back!!
On a different note, I'm a peaceful, passive person, but some things & some people bring out the Old Testament in me.
For example ~ The Skaf Brothers. Their contempt for the justice system, blatant lack of compassion, refusal to acknowledge any wrongdoing & absence of any regret make me want to practice tying a hangman's noose. There are some aberrations of homo sapiens that should be summarily removed.
